KSI Chiang Mai in Thailand offers a special Korean culture class for local elementary school students

40 students from Ssanbbaddung school in Chiang Mai visited KSI Chiang Mai to learn about the Korean language and culture. The class was taught by Juthamas Daengngam, an instructor at KSI Chiang Mai, featuring easy-to-follow programs designed to make students develop an interest in the Korean language.

The students learned to say simple greeting words in Korean, such as ‘hello’ and ‘my name is so-and-so,’ as well as different parts of the body through the Korean version of the song ‘head, shoulders, knees, and toes.’ They then played a ‘vocabulary guessing game,’ through which they were encouraged to repeat Korean words.

During the Korean culture class that followed, they learned about Hanbok, the traditional Korean attire. The class ended after the students made origami Hanbok for men and women, featuring Jeogori, skirts, and pants, and took a group photograph to commemorate the occasion. With Korean being offered as one of the electives for the Thai college entrance exam, more and more students begin to study Korean at a younger age. In line with this, KSI Chiang Mai began to offer culture classes for local students in 2022, starting with 2 sessions of special culture classes for students at Ssanbbaddung School. KSI Chiang Mai plans to continue offering various culture classes in 2023 as a way to promote Korean culture.
