Celebrating Chuseok, we had a Korean food experience event!

KSI Ulan-Ude, Russia (Anna, Operating Staff)

Celebrating Chuseok, a Korean traditional holiday, KSI Ulan-Ude Russia made Korean cuisine!

On October 3rd, KSI Ulan-Ude made modeun jeon (assorted jeon), which Koreans enjoy when celebrating the Korean Chuseok holiday.

As in other KSIs, many students at KSI in Ulan-Ude, Russia cannot gather in person due to Corona 19 restrictions; however, seven learners showed off their hidden cooking skills and made modeun jeon.

Trimming and tasting various ingredients such as shrimp, pumpkin, ham, eggplant, and meat, they had a pleasant Korean food experience. In addition, they learned about the origin of Chuseok. From the class, students learned that Chuseok is sometimes called 'Hangawi' and has other names such as 'Gabae' and' Jungchucheol'.

Ms. Tuyana, an elementarylevel 1A student at KSI Ulan-Ude, shared his feelings, saying, “It’s my first time speaking Korean, but I’m confident in Korean cuisine! It was a pleasant Korean food culture experience!”

I hope that all King Sejong Institute family members also enjoyed this Chuseok holiday!
Please look forward to the various forthcoming activities at KSI in Ulan-Ude!
