This summer’s camp program for Sup sogŭi Hosu (“Forest Lake”), the Korean Language Village among the 15 language
villages of Concordia in Minnesota, USA, has become so popular that there is even a waitlist with participants
from all over the country. The program at Sup sogŭi Hosu offers Korean language education for students from
kindergarten through 12th grade (K–12), along with various Korean cultural activities such as K-pop dance, art,
taekwondo, calligraphy, haegeum (traditional Korean string instrument) performance, and traditional games. Ross
King, the founder of the village and professor of Korean Literature and Korean Language at the University of
British Columbia (UBC), explained, “Through the program, participants can experience Korean language and culture
in an immersive environment, and by living together, they can naturally acquire Korean in an environment where
they see, hear, and speak the language 24 hours a day.”

Germany
On March 1, the 27th Youth Korean Language Contest was held at the Korean Cultural Center in Essen, Germany.
Hosted by the Federation of Korean Associations in Germany, the contest featured presentations by 21
Korean-German youth from 8 schools across the country. The grand prize was awarded to Hana Englert, a student
from the Düsseldorf Korean School.

Spain
Casa Milà, a representative architectural work of Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí and a UNESCO World Heritage
Site, has launched the first-ever Korean-language guided tour in Barcelona starting in 2025. The tour begins
daily at 8:30 a.m. and includes services such as Korean-language reservations, Korean audio guides, and
Korean-language guided tours. It is conducted as a small group tour lasting one and a half hours.

From February 23 to 24, the Department of Korean Language and Culture at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a
Korean Language Seminar and Workshop for Korean language instructors from education institutions that prepare
prospective migrant workers (CPMI) for employment in Korea. The seminar and workshop included a session on the
latest revisions (2024) of the Employment Permit System Test of Proficiency in Korean (EPS-TOPIK) textbooks, as
well as lectures on effective methods for teaching Korean culture within the EPS-TOPIK curriculum. Following the
lectures, UGM faculty members conducted hands-on Korean language training sessions using the updated EPS-TOPIK
materials for the instructors.
Tajikistan
On February 28, the Technological University of Tajikistan established Korean Language and Vocational Training
Center to create a better environment for Tajik citizens to learn Korean. The center currently offers
educational programs for Tajik youth, including vocational training to prepare them for work in Korean
companies, as well as Korean language, culture, and adaptation to Korean society and environment.
Thailand
On February 24, KSI Bangkok 2 visited the Academic Resources and Information Services Center at Suan Sunandha
Rajabhat University, where the institute is located, and donated nine Korean language books. The donated
materials included Sejong Korean 1A, KSI Korean Introduction, KSI Korean 1, KSI Practical Korean, Korean
Language for Business, Easy Korean for Agricultural Workers, and Easy Korean for Fishery Workers.
