> Starring Yeo One from Pentagon, a K-pop boy band.
> Premier on the foundation’s official YouTube channel on Sunday
November 6.
On November 6, KSIF released its 10th anniversary web drama series
“Idol in my Living Room” on its official YouTube channel.
The foundation produced this series in an effort to publicize KSI both
in and outside of Korea in the time when there is growing interest
towards Korean language and culture worldwide.
The web-drama, directed by Seo Kyung-guk, is a romance starring Joey
(Kang Ji-hoo), an exemplary student at KSI, and Yeo One (Yeo One) from
Pentagon. The story unfolds with the two characters who happen to live
together in the same house. The series features a total of 10
episodes, around 20 minutes for each, making it easy for anyone to
casually watch. The first episode was released on Sunday November 6 on
the foundation’s official YouTube channel. Seven episodes have been
revealed so far with two videos uploaded a week on Wednesdays and
Sundays.
Yeo One, a member of the Korean boy band Pentagon, was selected to
play the main character, in consideration of the popularity of K-pop.
The story focuses on young people making love and dating, which
Millennials and Gen Z can relate to, so that global learners can be
attracted to Korean culture. There are a variety of Korean cultural
elements studded throughout the drama, such as tourist spots of Seoul
in the background and the K-pop songs of the original soundtrack.
KSIF provides subtitles in 10 languages including English, French, and
Spanish to help KSI students across the globe enjoy the series.
President Lee Haiyoung of KSIF said, “I hope that this web-drama helps
improve the awareness of KSI for the global audiences who are
interested in Korean language and culture, and invites more learners
to our institute to learn Korean language.”
