Last month, the Samyang Won-dong Cultural Foundation donated a total of 10 million won to KSI Surabaya, Indonesia to disseminate the values of Korean language and culture in the region. The sponsorship funds of 10 million won were used to purchase textbooks for KSI and improve library facilities.
KSI Surabaya, which purchased a total of 340 copies of "Sejong Korean" and "Practical Korean," essential for KSI classes, plans to support outstanding learners by providing these textbooks to those who achieve excellent scores in the assessments conducted upon completion of the courses.

Before receiving the sponsorship, learners at KSI Surabaya had to sit on the floor during classes due to a lack of facilities such as desks and chairs in the library. However, now, with the sponsorship funds from the Samyang Won-dong Cultural Foundation, KSI Surabaya has purchased 12 desks, 24 chairs, and 3 bookshelves, enabling learners to study Korean in a more comfortable environment.
Learners at KSI Surabaya, who had to site on the floor, can now use chairs and desks while studying.
Thanks to this, Korean language and culture classes for the first half of the year are given in the library, and various Korean cultural events are also scheduled for the future.
An official from the Samyang Won-dong Cultural Foundation, who provided the sponsorship, expressed, "Indonesia is a country with significant interest and potential for the development of Korean culture. KSI Surabaya is also a leading institution for Korean language education in the eastern region of Indonesia, so we decided to sponsor it. It reels rewarding to hear the news that learners at KSI Surabaya can now study Korean in a more comfortable environment thanks to the sponsorship funds. We hope that the excellence of Korean language and culture will spread to more places worldwide, not just in Indonesia.”
