> Introducing Korean culture to children in an isolated area through the song, Paper Plane and folding paper planes
On June 29, KSI SiemReap, Cambodia conducted a volunteer activity in which all members of the institute participated at an elementary school in Phkaromcheik, which is about 40 minutes away by car. The president, plus dispatched and local instructors, operating staff, and 25 learners who finished a semester all participated lightheartedly in the event. In the small school field of the elementary school after driving along a bumpy dirt road, about 200 students in school uniforms were seen waiting for the volunteers under the hot sun.

The learners of KSI were divided into each class and taught the Korean children’s song, “Paper Plane,” to students. Although it was their first time learning Korean, the children sang together with the enthusiastic teachers. During paper plane folding that followed, the bright-eyed children folded paper planes carefully paying attention to the teacher’s explanation.

After finishing the paper folding, all students went out and flew the paper planes. Although they felt awkward at first, their faces were filled with happy smiles when the paper planes flew in the air. Paper planes in different colors made a pretty scene in the blue skies. After the volunteer activity, everyone shared their experiences with children they met at the dinner.
