KSIF (President Lee Haiyoung) concluded a business agreement with the National Library of Korea (NLK) at the Conference Room of the Main Building of NLK on May 26. The purpose of this agreement included increased accessibility to national knowledge and information resources, and spreading Korean culture and language throughout the world.
With this agreement, the parties seek to spread and promote the Korean language and culture through △linkage and efficient use of nation’s digital knowledge and information resources, △use of data related to the Korean language and culture, and △ information exchange for the development of the Korean language and culture.
In particular, KSI across the world now have access to National Knowledge Resource Sharing Service* provided by NLK. KSI faculty members and students who sign up for this service have free access to a total of 10 million digital data possessed by NLK. KSI can now utilize a wider range of educational materials on the Korean language and culture.
* National Knowledge Resource Sharing Service: 10 million (as of December 2021) national knowledge and information resources including data possessed by NLK are digitalized then provided to 3,282 partner libraries in and outside Korea. Compensation (for reading the document, copyright for printing, etc.) is funded by NLK.
“Through this business agreement, our foundation will endeavor to improve the quality of education provided by KSI across the globe based on a continued information exchange and partnership on Korean language and culture,” shared President Lee Haiyoung of KSIF.
Chief Executive SUH Hye-Ran of NLK said, “Current global attention to K-content is higher than ever. We hope our partnership with KSI, a leader in the promotion and spread of the Korean language and culture, provides an opportunity for overseas users to conveniently access knowledge and information data of NLK online and enjoy indirect experience of the diversity of our culture.”
