Both parties met and signed the agreement at 10 a.m. on February 22, 2022, at the NCRC’s Grand Conference Room.
With the signing of this agreement, the KSIF will systematically support Korean language and culture education programs for Korean adoptees around the world, consolidating ESG management in line with the aims and purposes of the two institutions.
The agreement includes ▲ support for Korean language and culture learning programs for Korean adoptees around the world and ▲ use of the Korean language and culture education materials developed by the KSIF, among others. This agreement is expected to contribute to helping those who experience identity issues build a strong sense of identity and foster self-esteem by providing them with opportunities to receive systematic Korean language training.
In accordance with the agreement, the two institutions will run Korean language education programs for roughly 60 adoptees at all levels who are currently living in Korea every year, starting this March. They are also drawing up plans to operate Korea’s first collaborative KSI in the second half of this year. In addition, the two institutions plan to gradually expand their cooperative programs for roughly 1,000 international Korean adoptees who are believed to reside in Korea.
The president of the NCRC Yoon Hye-mee expressed her expectations that the systematized KSIF program would help adoptees better understand and have pride in their motherland and discover their roots. She added, “The NCRC will continue to support them so that the program will deliver practical results, such as employment.”
The president of the KSIF Lee Hai-young said that the KSIF would continue working together with the NCRC, adding, “The KSIF plans to continue providing educational support for not only international Korean adoptees but any institution in Korea that needs Korean language and culture education.
