The King Sejong Institute Foundation (KSIF, president: Kang Hyounhwa) completed selection of the ‘2021 KSI Specialization Project’ on May 24th. 17 specialized projects will be promoted across 16 King Sejong Institute (KSI) locations.
The KSI specialization project is a Korean language and culture dissemination project planned and led by the operating institution. It aims to reflect local characteristics and operating conditions, and the selected institutes are provided with the financial support necessary to operate the project.
KSIF reflected local KSI demand and, as a result of public participation in five fields, with two additional fields added from last year, it applied for 30 projects at 22 locations in 15 countries, covering the following: ▲ special curriculum ▲external institution event linkage program ▲local Korean language education cooperation system establishment ▲Korean telephone language program utilizing teachers with disabilities and ▲ autonomous institute proposals.
When selecting a project, selection is made based on whether a special local curriculum or project linked or cooperating with an external organization could operate sustainably. KSIF plans to support KSI so that it can play a role bolstering public interest in the local area and continue specialization projects that reflect local characteristics.
Meanwhile, KSIF plans to complete grant issuance for specialization projects to the target KSIs in June, and by selecting projects that display exemplary operation this year, it plans to produce promotional materials for such cases and share them with KSIs around the world.
