Release of the <Sejong Korean Conversation Workbook> used at Nuri-Sejong Hakdang
<Sejong Korean Conversation> auxiliary textbook development that can supplement and deepen speaking and listening skills
Providing local customized educational materials through multilingualization and localization
The King Sejong Institute Foundation supplies the <Sejong Korean Conversation Workbook 1-1~4-2> with <Sejong Korean
Conversation 1-4> so that foreign learners studying Korean can deepen their speaking and listening skills.
The workbooks have been divided into 8 books considering the 'Sejong Korean Conversation' curriculum in which one book is
spread across two semesters. Workbooks 1-1~2-2 are for beginners and 3-1~4-2 are for intermediate learners. The main textbook
and units have been differentiated by presenting additional vocabulary and pronunciation learning contents and providing
abundant practice opportunities so that Korean conversation classes can be operated in a wide range of ways according to the
educational conditions of KSI branches around the world
▲ Workbook 'Vocabulary Practice',' Vocabulary Expansion', 'Expression Practice’
△In △‘Vocabulary Practice’, learners can practice the target vocabulary presented in this textbook; in △‘Vocabulary Expansion’, learners can learn additional vocabulary related to the topic of each unit; in △'Expression Practice', practice questions are provided to present information using the form of the target expression and to construct sentences or short dialogues.
▲ ‘Pronounce,’ ‘Read and Write,’ ‘Check,’ and ‘Activity Sheet’ in the workbook
In ‘Pronounce,' learners learn the pronunciation of the unit's listening passage or example dialogue; in ‘Read and Write,' learners
complete practical reading and writing tasks related to the subject of each unit; in 'Check,' learners have the opportunity to
self-evaluate; and the ‘Activity Sheet’ provides opportunities for learners to engage in advanced speaking tasks that allow them to use
the vocabulary, grammar, and discourse learned earlier in a meaningful context.
Unlike the textbook, which is provided in Korean and English only, the workbook is provided in twelve different languages (English,
Korean, Chinese, Spanish, Russian, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Mongolian, Portuguese, Turkish, Arabic, and Uzbek), and the linguistic
and cultural specificities of each culture have been well reflected. In particular, the workbook is meaningful in that it is a an
educational material that was developed by collecting the opinions of teachers in order to enable locals to learn in a participatory
manner after directly using the workbook in classes at ten local King Sejong Institutes.
Anyone can view and download the workbook for free at Nuri-Sejong Hakdang (nuri.iksi.or.kr), and learners can also discover
auxiliary materials such as △guidebooks for teachers, △PowerPoint-based lecture materials, △sound source files, and △word cards,
which are easy to use.
