KSIF Distributes Korean language Textbooks to Overseas
Diplomatic Establishments in 37 Countries around the World
5,228 textbooks provided to diplomatic establishments in 37 countries, including Georgia and Belarus
Distributed to 59 Korean language education institutions such as local embassies and Korean language schools through overseas diplomatic establishments in each country
The King Sejong Institute Foundation (President: Kang Hyounhwa, hereinafter KSIF) will distribute Korean language textbooks to overseas diplomatic establishments in 37 countries around the world in the first half of 2021.
From May, KSIF will send 5,228 Korean textbooks to overseas diplomatic establishments in 37 countries. The textbooks are
scheduled to be distributed to a total of 59 Korean language education institutions (embassies, Korean language schools, etc.)
in each country.
The distribution of Korean language education materials to overseas diplomatic establishments was commenced for the first time
last year. KSIF expanded the scale of textbook support this year as a result of positive responses from 47 Korean language education
institutions in 30 countries that received support in the way of Korean language education materials last year.
The Korean textbooks to be distributed this time will include nine varieties of Korean textbooks developed by KSIF, including cyber
Korean beginner/intermediate, Sejong Korean introductory, and Sejong Korean conversation textbooks. In particular, the cyber
Korean textbooks are expected to increase the effectiveness of Korean language learning in a non-face-to-face education
environment by enabling learning linked with online content.
KSIF plans to expand textbook support in the second half of this year. In addition to KSI branches and diplomatic establishments
abroad, domestic and overseas Korean language education institutions that have a demand for textbooks can apply for textbook
support.
In particular, KSIF is planning to help increase the effectiveness of Korean language education by distributing 'Cyber Korean'
textbooks, guidelines, and content packages (a collection of KSIF-developed contents) to Korean language education institutions
that are having difficulty operating due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
KSIF supports the revitalization of overseas Korean language education institutions through this Korean language textbook
distribution project. In the future, KSIF plans to expand its projects to distribute Korean language education materials to various
countries where the demand for Korean language is high.
