Making Mouth-Watering Hotteok
Darima, Operating Staff at KSI Ulan-Ude, Russia
At the King Sejong Institute (KSI) Ulan-Ude, Russia, nine learners and teachers made some delicious hotteok (sugar-filled Korean
pancake).
KSI Ulan-Ude is actually introducing foods enjoyed in Korea through a series called “let’s EAT together” on YouTube. We created a
video introducing corndogs and hotteok, which are popular street foods in Korea, and made the hotteok ourselves.
During class, information was provided on the ingredients of hotteok and when it is usually eaten. Then, the learners got to make
the dough and mix brown sugar and nuts for the filling. They also got to see the utensil used to press the hotteok into a flat shape
for the first time, and they were left quite intrigued.
While making the tasty treat themselves, the participants expressed their joy of learning more about Korean food. They also jotted
down the recipe so that they could make it at home.
KSI Ulan-Ude plans to continue holding a broad range of fun cultural classes. Please take an interest in us and show us your support!
