In 2021, 46 teachers dispatched to King Sejong Institutes (KSIs) overseas start teaching from January.
The King Sejong Institute Foundation (KSIF) announced that the newly selected 46 teachers to be dispatched in the first half of 2021
completed the training in Korea on December 21st. According to KSIF, they will be dispatched to KSIs sequentially from January to
start teaching
The countries to which the teachers are dispatched are a total of 25 countries including Madagascar, Bahrain, Russia, and Ukraine.
KSIF plans to dispatch teachers sequentially from January depending on the country's entry status. In the case of teachers who are
scheduled to be dispatched to countries where entry is impossible due to COVID-19, they will perform their work in Korea through an
online platform until entry to the country becomes available.
In December 2020, 46 teachers to be dispatched have conducted teaching practice on KSI’s basic curriculum and Korean culture
education and participated in mentoring with experienced teachers who had been already dispatched, for receiving advice on adapting
to the local community. In addition, teaching practice via an online platform was also performed in preparation for the implementation
of online courses due to COVID-19.
Lee Sandeul, KSIF’s staff in charge of the project said, “Even in the COVID-19 crisis, teachers are enthusiastic to go abroad to promote
Korean language and Korean culture. We will support KSIF’s dispatched teachers who work hard to promote the Korean language and
culture so that they can work abroad safely.”
KSIF plans to dispatch a total of 228 teachers in 2021.
