KSIF hosts second pre-training course for the 2020 World Korean Educators Conference

Course administered on the 13th of November for Korean language faculty members at elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as universities and multicultural centers

▲ The second pre-training course for the <2020 World Korean Educators Conference> was held on November 13th at the King Sejong Institutes Education Center on level 7 of the Seocho Pyeonghwa Building in Seocho-gu, Seoul.

The KSIF hosted a capacity-building training session for Korean language instructors teaching marriage migrant women and multicultural youth in Korea.

The King Sejong Institute Foundation (KSIF, president: Kang Hyounhwa)’s ‘Second Pre-training Course for the 2020 World Korean Educators Conference’ was held on the 13th of November at the King Sejong Institutes Education Center in Seocho-dong, Seoul.
The event was held in compliance with government event guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

59 Korean language instructors, including elementary, middle, high school and university faculty members teaching Korean to multicultural youth, and administrators of Korean language education programs for marriage migrant women attended the event.
The writing staff of ‘KSI Korean for Marriage Migrants’ introduced the textbook and methods of utilizing the same in Korean language education, and training course participants also took part in a mock class administered using the newly developed text.
Participants shared their experience as Korean language instructors for learners from a multicultural background, and discussed effective teaching techniques.

The KSIF"s ‘2020 World Korean Educators Conference’ will be held over three days from December 9th to 11th at the Grand Walkerhill Hotel in Gwangjang-dong, Seoul, attended by participants in the first and second pre-training courses as well as other Korean language instructors teaching in Korea and abroad. Instructors active in Korea may participate online, while overseas participants, including KSI faculty, are invited to participate online.

The ‘World Korean Educators Conference’ is an event hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and managed by the KSIF, aiming to build professionalism in Korean language education and build cooperative networks among Korean language faculty around the world. Following the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism"s ‘Korean Language Proliferation Plan (2020-2022)’, the KSIF plans to operate additional training programs to build professionalism in Korean language education both within and without Korea, in addition to the ‘World Korean Educators Conference’ and the ‘KSI Regional Workshops’.
