K-Fest in Seattle Draws Over 7,000 Visitors

On June 18, the KSI Center, U.S.A., participated in the Korean Cultural Festival (K-Fest), hosted by the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle. Held in celebration of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the event took place at the Mural Amphitheatre near Seattle’s iconic Space Needle and drew around 7,000 local residents, tourists, and soccer fans.
At the festival, the KSI Center, U.S.A., promoted the Korean language and culture by operating a booth featuring Hangeul calligraphy activities and information about KSI courses.

K-Culture Experience Zone
◇ Love, Hope, and Peace Shared Through the World Cup
At the booth hosted by the KSI Center, U.S.A., visitors experienced Hangeul calligraphy with Mr. Baek Seok-jong, a former architecture professor at Jeonju University. Visitors received Hangeul artworks featuring Korean words such as “love,” “freedom,” “happiness,” “peace,” “joy,” “hope,” and “wish.” By learning the meanings behind these words, visitors were able to naturally experience the aesthetic beauty of Hangeul and Korean expressions.

The booth also introduced KSI courses and Korean language learning resources. KSI textbooks and online learning content, as well as other informational materials, were displayed and distributed to provide guidance on where and how to learn Korean. Visitors at the booth showed a keen interest in KSI courses, asking what level of classes are available and what they can learn at a KSI.
◇ K-Culture Captivates World Cup Fans
The venue offered a wide range of programs throughout the day, including K-pop performances, a hanbok fashion show, K-beauty experiences, and Korean food trucks, drawing a steady stream of visitors.
In the afternoon, participants gathered for a street cheering event to watch the World Cup match between South Korea and Mexico on a large screen. Performances and live acts continued late into the night, filling Seattle with the energy of both the World Cup and K-culture.

K-Fest served not only as a celebration of Korean culture alongside the World Cup but also as a bridge to bring the Korean language closer to the local community. By introducing Hangeul calligraphy and KSI courses, the KSI Center, U.S.A., created a meaningful point of contact where visitors could experience, learn, and ask questions about the Korean language.
