Nateworking, Sharing, Harmonizing, and Rewarding:
KSIF’s Vision for a New Future
> President Jeon Woo-yong unveils new core values during an all-staff communication forum marking his inauguration
> Vision of becoming an organization where teachers, learners, employees, and the public can all find a sense of fulfillment
> Declaration of a new organizational culture rooted in mutual respect, care, and human dignity

On May 20, the King Sejong Institute Foundation (KSIF) held its 2026 KSIF Employee Communication Forum at the studio on the lobby floor of Arirang Tower in Seoul. The event brought all executives and employees together to share the foundation’s core values and management direction following the inauguration of President Jeon Woo-yong, and also provided an opportunity for staff members to share their perspectives on improving organizational culture.
◇ Redefining the KSIF’s Core Values:
From Functional Values to Organizational Identity
The forum began with a discussion of the KSIF’s new direction. President Jeon Woo-yong proposed a new set of core values—networking, sharing, harmonizing, and rewarding—to more intuitively represent its identity. These move beyond the previous functional values of partnership, expertise, diversity, and innovation, reflecting the foundations renewed direction: networking with people around the world through the Korean language and Korean culture, sharing culture, harmonizing with others, and helping everyone involved feel rewarding.
◇ Expanding the Meaning of “Rewarding”: Instilling Pride in Everyone
The concept of rewarding was expanded to four dimensions to clarify the KSIF’s broader purpose and encourage everyone involved to find meaning in their role.
To be more specific, the mission is to create an organization where everyone can find a sense of reward in their own way. For teachers, it means rewarding experience in teaching others; for learners, rewarding experience in their learning; and for KSIF employees, rewarding experience helping others and contributing through their work. Ultimately, these efforts should create value for the people of Korea as well by demonstrating the significance of the KSIF and providing them with a sense of rewarding from supporting and building the organization.

◇ Dialogue Over Delivery: A Communication Session Shaped by Staff Voices
These aspirations were given shape during the communication session that followed. Instead of a one-way presentation, the forum served as a platform for genuine dialogue. Employees were invited to share their hopes and expectations for the new president through an open questions and discussion format. The discussions covered a wide range of topics, including organizational management, interdepartmental collaboration, and internal communication practices. Particularly noteworthy was President Jeon’s response to the five major proposals submitted by employees regarding organizational culture. He outlined specific plans for improvement and expressed a clear commitment to change, helping build a shared understanding and momentum for meaningful organizational reform.

◇ Looking Ahead: Sharing the Power of the Korean Language with the World
Moving forward, the KSIF will not measure its success by numbers alone. Instead, it will serve as a leading institution that shares the values of equality, inclusiveness, and cultural richness embedded in the Korean language with the world. To this end, the KSIF is fully committed to finding practical solutions to challenges on the ground, improving working conditions for Korean language teachers, and strengthening the overall quality of the educational environment. Guided by its new core values, the KSIF aims to bring greater fulfillment to learners around the world while cultivating an organizational culture grounded in mutual respect.
