The year 2026 marks the historic 100th anniversary of the establishment of Hangeul Day. To commemorate this milestone, the King Sejong Institute Foundation (President Jeon Woo-yong, hereafter referred to as the “KSIF”) is launching the Writing Hangeul Together campaign, which will run through October 2026. This campaign aims to reaffirm the value and significance of Hangeul while promoting a culture of proper Korean language usage in everyday life. Unlike conventional commemorative ceremonies, the initiative was designed so that anyone can participate easily, from the global King Sejong Institute community to people who simply love Hangeul.
◇ [Individuals] Posting Content According to Monthly Themes on Social Media
The individual participation track encourages participants to create and share content showcasing examples of proper Hangeul usage they encountere in everyday life through photos, writing, videos, and other creative formats. Those wishing to participate can check the monthly themes on the KSIF’s official Instagram account and upload related content to their own social media pages. ◇ [Groups] Discovering Hangeul in Our Region, Our Neighborhood: Global Declaration Recitation
The group participation track, coordinated primarily through the global KSI network, focuses on identifying examples of Hangeul usage within local communities and proposing appropriate Korean expressions. Programs can be freely designed according to local circumstances and may include educational activities (Korean orthography, foreign-language transliteration lessons, etc.), exhibition activities (expressing favorite Korean words through artwork or displays, etc.), event activities (experiential booths designed to celebrate Hangeul Day, etc.), and field activities (suggesting appropriate Korean expressions for public facilities, tourist information signs, etc.).

As part of the centennial celebration, participants will collaborate on the creation and recitation of a global declaration. Participating groups will submit video footage of group members reading the jointly authored manifestos, and the KSIF will later compile and edit these into a single video that will be released through its official social media channels.
KSIs wishing to participate in the group category must pre-register through the online application form (Google Form) by Friday, May 8. Exceptional applicants will be selected for an opportunity to participate in the Outstanding Learner Training Program in Korea. In addition, the most compelling declaration may be adopted as official promotional material to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Hangeul Day and presented through the KSIF website, social media channels, press releases, and other media platforms.
