On January 28th, the King Sejong Institute Foundation (Acting President and Secretary General Choi Hyun-Seung, hereinafter the KSIF) signed a business agreement with the National Library for Children and Young Adults (Director Park Joo-ok) to support Korean language and Korean culture learning utilizing multilingual fairy tale content. With this agreement, KSI learners will now be able to utilize multilingual fairy tale videos held and provided by the National Library for Children and Young Adults for learning the Korean language. The content in question is 358 fairy tale videos available in seven languages (Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Mongolian, English, and Spanish), and includes traditional Korean fairy tales, traditional fairy tales from other countries, and original fairy tales.

The two institutions promoted this agreement with the aim of creating a language learning environment that could enhance understanding of Korean culture and customs by utilizing fairy tale videos with stories as a medium. In particular, traditional Korean fairy tales are cultural assets, stories about community spirit, values, and attitudes toward life passed down orally for generations, so they will be helpful in broadening the understanding of Korean society and culture among Korean language learners. The multilingual fairy tale videos in question will be introduced through online and offline KSIs and the online Korean language learning platform Nuri KSI (nuri.iksi.or.kr).

Through this agreement, the two institutions will strengthen their cooperation in spreading the Korean language and Korean culture overseas, and jointly promote initiatives such as sharing knowledge and information for the overseas utilization of Korean book resources and linking reading-based cultural content.

KSIF Secretary General Choi Hyun-seung said, "With this multilingual fairy tale content, we have expanded the range of Korean language and Korean culture learning materials for KSI learners. Now they can more naturally understand Korean culture through the medium of fairy tales." Director Park Joo-ok of the National Library for Children and Young Adults stated, "We hope that the multilingual fairy tale materials will be widely utilized overseas at Korean language learning sites," and added, "This will help link reading and cultural experiences with language learning."

The KSIF plans to source more multilingual content in line with changes in the digital learning environment and expand support so that overseas learners can more easily access high-quality Korean language and Korean culture materials online in the future.
