> Korean culture courses offered in total of 10 fields of through 2025 Sejong Culture Academy, with 50 cultural experts dispatched overseas
> Support provided for 107 Korean culture courses covering both tradition and modernity opened at 105 operating institutions in 55 countries
The King Sejong Institute Foundation (Acting President and Secretary General Choi Hyun-Seung, hereafter referred to as the KSIF) supported the establishment of a total of 107 Korean culture courses and directly dispatched Korean culture experts to 105 operating institutions in 55 countries worldwide this year through the Sejong Culture Academy program, which is aimed at expanding Korean culture overseas.
The Sejong Culture Academy dispatches professional cultural experts to enable overseas KSIs to offer Korean culture education programs tailored to local demand. Not limited to short-term, one-off events, the program seeks to broaden understanding of Korean culture from an intercultural perspective through the systematic operation of structured courses.

Reflecting strong global interest, a total of 174,169 learners participated in the Korean culture courses offered through the Sejong Culture Academy this year, demonstrating the strong interest in Korean culture across a wide range of countries and regions.
Cultural experts dispatched through the Sejong Culture Academy delivered courses on a wide range of topics in 11 fields, reflecting the educational environments and needs of each operating institution. This approach enabled deeper and more sustained engagement with Korean culture by local learners, while allowing operating institutions to establish a foundation for independently planning and running their own Korean culture programs.

Notable outcomes have also emerged from traditional Korean culture courses offered in Africa through the Sejong Culture Academy. At KSI Kumi, located in Uganda and South Sudan in East Africa, Seo Jimin, a cultural expert dispatched through the Sejong Culture Academy, conducted a traditional Korean fan dance course for local learners, which helped to raise understanding of and interest in traditional Korean culture.

The course was taught in four sessions from October 24 to 25, with 117 learners participating and demonstrating strong interest in traditional Korean culture. The program combined theoretical instruction on the basic movements and meanings of the fan dance with hands-on practice, enabling learners to beautifully perform not only fundamental movements but also applied techniques such as turns, wave motions, and flower-shaped formations.
This course served as an example of how traditional Korean dance can naturally blend into the cultural environment of Africa, and drew active participation and enthusiastic responses from local learners. This experience confirmed that the Sejong Culture Academy can effectively convey traditional Korean culture across regional and cultural boundaries. Moving forward, the KSIF plans to continue expanding Korean culture courses reflecting the characteristics and needs of each region through the Sejong Culture Academy, and to create a broader foundation for Korean culture to be understood and enjoyed as part of everyday life in local communities.
