On December 10, KSI Ljubljana, Slovenia, in collaboration with the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana, hosted a Hangeul calligraphy event by calligrapher Han Chang-hwan. Held in the lobby of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana, the event welcomed approximately 100 students for a meaningful cultural experience. During the event, Han personally wrote the names of participating students in Hangeul and concluded the program with a live Hangeul brush performance together with the students.

Through the World Tour with Hangeul project, calligrapher Han Chang-hwan has traveled by car to 54 countries to introduce the beauty and excellence of Hangeul to audiences around the world. This project is a cultural exchange initiative designed to help people gain a deeper understanding of Hangeul through name calligraphy events and live brush performances.

One learner at KSI who participated in the event said, “Seeing my name written in Hangeul calligraphy allowed me to once again feel the beauty of Hangeul.” Director Ryu Hyeon-sook of KSI Ljubljana, who planned the event, commented, “I imagined students decorating their rooms with their Hangeul names and seeing them every day. I hope that the interest in Hangeul we saw at this event will eventually lead to deeper Korean language learning.”

This Hangeul calligraphy event and brush performance also marked the 30th anniversary of the Department of Asian Studies at the University of Ljubljana. It served as an opportunity to once again highlight the aesthetic value of Hangeul for KSI Ljubljana learners, University of Ljubljana students, and members of the general public alike.
