• Olympic View K–8 School Launches Washington State’s First Korean Dual Language Program for Kindergarten Students
Last October, Olympic View K–8 School under the Federal Way School District in Seattle launched Washington State’s first dual-language Korean program for kindergarten students. The program operates in two tracks: Korean & English and Spanish & English, and students in the Korean track receive 90% of their instruction in Korean. The program will begin with kindergarten classes this year and expand by one grade level each year.

• Rock Creek Valley Elementary School, Maryland, Launches After-School Korean Language Program
In late October, Rock Creek Valley Elementary School in Rockville, Montgomery County, launched an after-school Korean language program. With this addition, the number of schools offering after-school Korean language programs in Montgomery County has increased to three: Rock Creek Valley Elementary School, Clarksburg Elementary School, and Hoover Middle School. The program is offered to students from kindergarten through fifth grade and is held once a week for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Classes combine Korean language instruction with Korean culture lessons, which include traditional holidays and paper folding.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) Announces First-Ever Recruitment of Faculty with Korean Language Major
On November 4, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) announced through its 2025 additional faculty recruitment notice that out of seven new faculty positions at the Faculty of Foreign Language, it will hire three professors who majored in Korean language. Applicants are required to hold a master’s degree or higher in Korean linguistics, Korean studies, or Korean language education, and to have achieved Level 5 or higher on the Test of Proficiency in Korean. This marks the first time that HUST’s Faculty of Foreign Languages has recruited faculty specializing in Korean, which represents an important milestone in the full-scale expansion and advancement of Korean language education and research. It also serves as a new starting point for diversifying modern foreign language education programs and strengthening international educational cooperation.

Syiah Kuala University Launches Korean Language Training Program for Prospective Overseas Workers
On October 6, Syiah Kuala University launched the “Korean Language Training Program for Prospective Overseas Workers” in cooperation with KSI Banda Aceh and the National Board for the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Overseas Workers (BP2MI). The program opened at the KSI Banda Aceh building and is scheduled to run for approximately two months, through December 8, 2025. This Korean language training program is designed not only to improve language proficiency but also to help participants learn about Korean society, workplace culture, and professional etiquette. Approximately 20 prospective overseas workers from various areas of Banda Aceh are currently participating in the program.

KSI Korean Cultural Center, Kazakhstan, Launches Pilot 2025 Korean Language Course Support Program
On November 10, the KSI Korean Cultural Center, Kazakhstan, officially launched the pilot phase of the “Korean Language Course Support Program.” This initiative was developed in response to the high level of interest in Korean language, Korean culture, and studying in Korea across Kazakhstan. Alpamys School in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, was selected as the first pilot school through a prior application and screening process. Classes will be held for approximately two months, from November through December, during which the cultural center will dispatch a professional Korean language teacher to provide beginner-level Korean classes. The cultural center plans to expand the program to other regions of Kazakhstan next year, while also recruiting local Korean language teachers and cooperating with regional schools.

Paris Municipal Tourism and Travel Library Hosts Korean Language Experience Workshop for Beginner Learners
On November 22, the Paris Municipal Tourism and Travel Library (Bibliothèque du Tourisme et des Voyages – Germaine Tillion), located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, hosted the Korean Language Experience Workshop for Beginner Learners (Essential Korean for Traveling in Korea). Organized by the library in collaboration with the KSI Center, France, The program focused on frequently used Korean expressions for travel, such as greetings, how to order at restaurants, and transportation directions, and also introduced practical vocabulary related to cultural etiquette, food, and transportation.
