The KSIF also collaborated with KBS to produce three special Hangeul Day programs, including two entertainment episodes and one documentary. These programs aired not only on KBS in Korea but also globally on KBS World and KBS Korea.
In the KBS2 variety show “The Boss in the Mirror Hangeul Day Special” (Turkey edition), broadcaster Jun Hyun-moo, chef Jung Ho-young, and announcers Um Ji-in and Heo Yu-won visited KSI Istanbul to hold a special class for overseas Korean learners. The KSI students showcased their Korean proficiency and expressed their love for Korean culture by performing K-pop dance routines, Korean folk songs on the violin, and taekwondo demonstrations. The cast members remarked, “By interacting with Korean learners, we truly felt that the KSI is more than a language institution—it has become a platform for cultural exchange.” Their visit to KSI Istanbul aired over two episodes on October 5 and 12, coinciding with Hangeul Day.
In addition, immediately following the Hangeul Day commemoration ceremony on October 9, KBS1 aired a KSI documentary special titled “Korean, Connecting the World.” It featured visits to KSI São Leopoldo, Brazil, KSI Gothenburg, Sweden, and KSI Fergana, Uzbekistan, and offered a vivid look at the activities of KSIs worldwide by showcasing unique regional Korean language classes and the enthusiasm of learners enjoying Korean culture.

Meanwhile, from October 14 to 20, the KSIF held the KSI Outstanding Learners Invitation Program, with more than 200 outstanding learners from 170 KSIs across 75 countries invited to Korea. Participants took part in the finals of the KSI Korean Speaking and Writing Contests, experienced Korean culture firsthand, and gained a deeper understanding of life in Korea.
Choi Hyun-seung, secretary general of the KSIF, stated, “This year, the birthday of King Sejong (May 15) was designated as a national commemoration day, making the meaning of Hangeul Day even more significant.
