and Culture Teaching Materials
at 21st Sharjah International Education Show
> First participation by a Korean public institution
> Increase in local interest following introduction of KSI teaching materials and teacher support programs
The King Sejong Institute Foundation (Acting President and Secretary General Choi Hyun-seung, hereafter referred to as KSIF) participated in the 21st Sharjah International Education Show in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, from October 8 to 11, where it introduced the charm of Korean language and culture to approximately 1,700 education officials and visitors from around the world.
Now in its 21st year, the Sharjah International Education Show is one of the leading education fairs in the Middle East, featuring major universities and language institutions from countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom. This year’s event brought together more than 100 educational institutions from 16 countries, with the KSIF becoming the first Korean public institution ever to take part—a milestone in international outreach.

At the exhibition, the KSIF showcased a wide range of Korean language and culture teaching materials developed in-house, including standard textbooks as well as specialized materials for translation and interpretation, business Korean, and other specific purposes. The KSIF also actively promoted the Sejong Korean Language Assessment (SKA), a comprehensive evaluation tool for Korean language proficiency. Notably, there was strong participation in the on-site registration assistance that the KSIF provided for visitors wanting to take the upcoming SKA test scheduled to be held in Abu Dhabi on November 15. A supplementary event of writing visitors names in Korean calligraphy proved especially popular, drawing steady interest and enthusiasm.

By participating in this exhibition, the KSIF has enhanced accessibility to Korean language education throughout the Middle East and raised awareness of the KSI’s educational role and content offerings. The KSIF also met with representatives from major universities participating in the event to introduce the KSI program and discuss customized teacher and content support plans for institutions interested in offering Korean language education.
The director of the KSIF Sharjah Office stated, “This exhibition was a meaningful opportunity to promote Korean language and culture in Sharjah, the cultural and educational hub of the Arab world. Moving forward, the KSIF will continue to expand its educational materials and experiential programs tailored to the needs of learners in the Middle East and Arab regions.”
