Opportunities with Global Learners through
Dispatch of Prospective Korean Language
Teachers and Culture Interns
> 44 prospective teachers and 50 culture interns dispatched to 49 KSIs in 33 countries
> About three months of career development support for university (graduate) students starting in August
The King Sejong Institute Foundation (Acting President and Secretary General Choi Hyun-Seung, hereafter referred to as KSIF) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Choi Hwi-young) announced on August 21 that 94 domestic university (graduate) students were selected as prospective Korean language teachers and culture interns and will be dispatched to 49 KSIs in 33 countries around the world.
KSIF operates the Overseas Practicum for Prospective Korean Language Teachers and the Culture Intern Dispatch Program in order to select university (graduate) students majoring in Korean language and culture, send them to KSIs abroad, and provide them with field training opportunities. This year’s dispatch includes 44 prospective Korean language teachers and 50 culture interns, who were selected through university recommendations and a screening process that began in June. In July, they completed preliminary training on safety, health, and other essential aspects for adapting locally and living safely abroad.

After completing their preliminary training, the prospective teachers and culture interns will be dispatched from this month to KSIs worldwide for one to three months. There, they will interact with foreigners who love the Korean language and culture, helping promote Korea. Prospective Korean language teachers will enhance their expertise and explore career paths through class observation, mock lessons, and participation in local cultural events. Culture interns will design and operate cultural courses on K-pop, Korean cuisine, crafts, and other areas of specialization, gaining hands-on experience in the field.
Choi Hyun-Seung, Secretary General of KSIF, stated, “For prospective Korean language teachers and culture interns, this is an opportunity for growth through overseas training, and for KSI learners, it is a chance to experience Korean language and culture in new ways through exchange with Korean university students. KSIF will continue to actively support young talents so that they can further develop their expertise on the global stage.”
