KSIF Launches Korean Learning App
for Foreign Seasonal Workers
> Customized Korean language support for foreign workers in the agriculture and fisheries sectors
> Available in six languages, free on Google Play Store and App Store
To mark “Fishermen’s Day” on April 1, the King Sejong Institute Foundation (Acting President and Secretary General Bae Jong-min, hereafter referred to as KSIF) launched the KSI Agri-Fisheries Korean Learning App to help foreign workers in the agriculture and fisheries sectors learn Korean more easily.
This app was developed based on the 2024 KSIF publications Easy Korean for Agricultural Workers and Easy Korean for Fisheries Workers. It is designed to allow users to learn essential vocabulary and expressions commonly used in the workplace in about 15 minutes per day. In particular, it enhances listening functions to support repeated learning, making it highly practical for real-life and work situations.

Until now, it has been difficult for agricultural and fisheries workers to find time to study Korean due to their demanding work schedules. However, with the newly released app, users can now effectively learn practical expressions anytime and anywhere in short periods of time, making it a valuable resource for both foreign workers and their employers.
According to the Ministry of Justice, the number of foreign seasonal workers increased from 30,401 in 2023 to 56,895 in 2024. In response, KSIF is providing customized learning materials to help workers with limited time acquire Korean more efficiently. Like KSIF’s two previously published textbooks for seasonal workers, this app also includes translated example sentences in six languages—English, Vietnamese, Mongolian, Russian, Uzbek, and Kyrgyz—to enhance accessibility for learners.

KSIF Secretary General Bae Jong-min stated, “We hope this new app becomes a practical stepping stone for foreign workers in the agriculture and fisheries sectors to learn Korean,” and added, “KSIF will continue to develop tailored educational content to support foreigners in various environments who need to learn Korean.”
