The King Sejong Institute Foundation (acting President and Secretary General Bae Jong-min, hereafter referred to
as KSIF) achieved its highest-ever score of 92.5 in the 2024 KSI Learner Satisfaction Survey. This represents a
1.4-point increase from the previous year and marks the highest growth rate in the past three years.
The survey was conducted online from November 2024 to January 2025, targeting KSI learners in 88 countries
around the world, with a total of 17,622 participants. It evaluated four categories: overall satisfaction,
general satisfaction, satisfaction with specific components such as curriculum, facilities, and textbooks, and
social satisfaction.
2024 KSI Learner Satisfaction Survey Results
The item with the highest satisfaction score was the Korean Culture Course (92.2), followed by the Korean
Language Curriculum (90.9), Facilities and Environment (90.4), and Textbooks (90.3). Notably, the area with the
most significant improvement compared to the previous year was related to enhancements in educational materials.
This positive change is attributed to KSIF’s 2024 introduction of advanced-level textbooks under the KSI Korean
series, completing the curriculum from beginner to advanced levels. In addition, KSIF released new materials
tailored to diverse learning goals such as interpretation and translation, as well as Korean for seasonal
workers.
Results of the KSI Learner Satisfaction Survey by Category (2023 & 2024)
In the survey on learners’ primary motivations for studying, “interest in Korean culture” ranked highest at
39.8%, followed by academic purposes (32.8%) and employment (14.5%). Respondents noted that KSI helped improve
their Korean language proficiency and deepen their understanding of Korea.

This year’s survey also newly introduced an evaluation item for “service delivery quality,” allowing a more
detailed analysis of learner satisfaction. Furthermore, the survey adopted the Public Customer Satisfaction
Index (PCSI) 2.0 model to enhance credibility. Under this model, KSIF recorded a score of 91.8, further
validating its effectiveness in promoting Korean language and culture overseas. Secretary General Bae Jong-min
stated, “We will not be complacent with our satisfaction scores. KSIF will continue to strive to help learners
with diverse goals achieve their dreams through KSI.”
