The King Sejong Institute Foundation(Acting President and Secretary General Bae Jong-min, hereafter referred to
as KSIF) is providing fair and reliable evaluations to (prospective) learners of KSIs worldwide through the
Sejong Korean Language Assessment (SKA), which has established a stable operational system in its third year of
implementation. The Sejong Korean Language Assessment (SKA) is a test designed to comprehensively evaluate
Korean language communication skills.
The Sejong Korean Language Assessment Multi-stage Adaptive Test (iSKA), first implemented in 2024, is a
differentiated assessment system optimized to the proficiency levels of learners. In 2024, a total of 486
participants took the iSKA, not only at KSIs but also at prestigious institutions such as Vanderbilt University
in the United States, the School of Professional and Continuing Education at the University of Hong Kong, and
Vilnius University in Lithuania.
The 2024 Sejong Korean Language Assessment (SKA) was conducted three times: May 25 (5th session), August 24 (6th
session), and October 26 (7th session). A total of 5,489 participants from 51 institutions took part.
Additionally, 2024 marked the first implementation of the SKA in Slovenia and Latvia, reflecting a growing
interest in Korean language assessments.
The 2025 Sejong Korean Language Assessment (SKA) is scheduled to be conducted three times as a paper-based exam,
with the dates for each session, registration periods, and score release dates provided in Table 1 below. KSIF
is currently recruiting overseas implementing institutions and plans to expand the regions where the exam will
be offered compared to the previous year. Furthermore, KSIF intends to announce the implementation regions for
each session via the Sejong Korean Language Assessment website (https://ska.ksif.or.kr) in January 2025.
2025 SKA Test Schedule: Test Dates, Registration Periods, and Result Announcement Dates
The 2025 Multi-stage Adaptive Sejong Korean Language Assessment (iSKA) is an Internet-Based Test (IBT) and a
Multi-Stage Adaptive Test (MST) that will be conducted twice a year. iSKA will be administered in collaboration
with prominent domestic and international universities under agreement with KSIF, as well as at key KSIs in
locations such as Vietnam, the United States, and France. The 1st iSKA special session, targeting partner
institutions under agreement, is scheduled for April 2025, and the 2nd iSKA session, focused on key King Sejong
Institutes, will take place on November 7, 2025.
Bae Jong-min, Secretary General of KSIF, stated, “As the global enthusiasm for learning Korean continues to
grow, we aim to provide more learners with fair and reliable evaluation opportunities. To achieve this, we plan
to expand the regions where the Sejong Korean Language Assessment (SKA) and the Multi-stage Adaptive Sejong
Korean Language Assessment (iSKA) are conducted while further advancing digital-based evaluations.”
