KSI Tehran Hosts First Cultural Workshop
on Korean Culture

> A two-day festival of Korean culture was held on July 17-18, with 55 participants from the KSI Tehran

> Events were organized around four themes: 'Calligraphy', 'Traditional Masks', 'Korean Cuisine', and 'Yutnori'

On July 17-18, the first cultural workshop was held at the KSI Tehran, located within the Korean Embassy in Iran. The workshop covered 'Calligraphy', 'Traditional Masks', 'Korean Cuisine', and 'Yutnori', and provided 55 participants from the KSI Tehran an opportunity to learn and directly experience Korean culture.

The 'Calligraphy' workshop began with an introduction to calligraphy. First, the instructor explained the method of writing consonants, vowels, and syllables, after which participants practiced writing characters themselves. Then, participants chose one of the 20 provided sentences to carefully decorate each character in calligraphy. After the workshop, the instructor and participants selected five individuals who had exhibited outstanding calligraphy skills and awarded them traditional painted fans.
 
 

In the 'Traditional Masks' workshop, participants learned about Korean traditional masks and watched videos of mask dances to broaden their understanding. During the subsequent mask coloring session, participants creatively colored masks like the blue goblin and the crying goblin, enjoying their time.
 
 

In the 'Korean Cuisine' workshop, 15 participants were divided into five teams of three to experience cooking Gimbap. The instructor demonstrated step-by-step how to make Gimbap, which participants then followed. After completing their dishes, the participants, who received chopstick sets as souvenirs, expressed, "I've only seen Gimbap being made in dramas, but making it was challenging yet fun. I want to get the ingredients and make it often at home."
 
 

Finally, in the 'Yutnori' workshop, the instructor introduced this traditional game and explained the rules. Participants, divided into two teams of five, practiced playing Yutnori under the instructor's guidance. As the real game began, the closely matched skills of the teams brought the excitement to its peak, with constant laughter and cheers from the participants. The winning team was thrilled to receive a set of coasters featuring traditional paintings. Through this cultural workshop, participants gained deeper insights into Korean culture and created beautiful memories.
