KSIF conducts a pilot program for translation
and interpretation courses for intermediate
and advanced Korean learners

> France, Saudi Arabia, and 8 KSIs in 8 countries initiate pilot operation of translation and interpretation courses

> The development of textbooks for translation and interpretation in four additional languages (French, Arabic, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese) has been completed alongside the existing development of 12 languages. Official textbooks will be released in 2025

The King Sejong Institute Foundation(President Lee Hai-young, hereinafter referred to as the KSIF) is piloting KSI Translation and Interpretation Course at eight KSIs in eight countries, including France and Saudi Arabia, in response to the demand for intermediate and advanced Korean language learning.

Since 2021, KSIF has begun developing KSI Translation and Interpretation Course in response to the increasing demand for learning Korean translation and interpretation due to the global spread of Hallyu (Korean Wave) and active overseas expansion of Korean companies. By 2023, the development and pilot operation of the educational curriculum, along with the publication of the "Sejong Translation and Interpretation" textbook, have been completed in a total of 12 languages. Additionally, textbooks for translation and interpretation in four more languages (French, Arabic, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese) have been newly published.
 

KSIF plans to conduct a pilot operation of the translation and interpretation course, applying the newly published translation and interpretation textbooks to learners in each language group directly from April to August. The pilot operation includes eight KSIs in eight countries, including KSI Center France, European headquarters, which is directly operated by KSIF, as well as KSI Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and KSI Bogotá, Colombia.
 
 

Learners participating in the pilot operation of the translation and interpretation course at each country's KSI can experience vivid Korean translation and interpretation scenes through practical programs in addition to theoretical classes using course.

Furthermore, Korean instructors at each KSI participating in the pilot operation of the translation and interpretation course can learn directly from the authors about how to use the textbook and operate classes.

In the future, KSIF plans to reflect the opinions of the learners and instructors from each KSI who participated in this pilot operation, finalize the revision of , and release it for free through Nuri KSI (https://nuri.iksi.or.kr/) in the first half of next year.

President Lee Hai-young of KSIF stated, "As the pilot operation of KSI Translation and Interpretation Course has been conducted in all four language groups where there is high demand for translation and interpretation learning, I believe that we can present more refined translation and interpretation textbooks based on the results of the pilot operation." she also added, "We will continue to make steady efforts to establish KSI Translation and Interpretation Course as an education program for intermediate and advanced Korean language learners at KSIs in each country."
