The Completion Ceremony for the Sejong Culture Academy was held at KSI Surabaya, Indonesia and students celebrated the event with K-pop and Samulnori performances.
KSI Surabaya, Indonesia held the Completion Ceremony for Sejong Culture Academy on November 7. The event was a festival to wrap up another semester and to celebrate with each other, joined by around 130 attendees including students of the academy and their family, KSI instructors, operational staff, members of Petra Christian University and citizens of Surabaya.
The Sejong Culture Academy started in October 29 as a two-week program and delighted the students with various Korean cultural programs including hangeul, hanbok, Korean food, K-pop dance and Samulnori, a traditional percussion music in Korea. Before the ceremony, participants of the event were able to enjoy tasty Korean foods, such as gimbab, tteokbokki, bulgogi and many others.
The ceremony lasted for approximately an hour with a welcome speech, a video on the academy and certificate conferment ceremony. Thirty students who took K-pop dance and Samulnori classes were divided into two groups to show off the skills they’ve learned on the stage.
One of the students shared, “I loved that I was able to experience and learn about Korean culture without having to travel to Korea. It was also meaningful because I made a lot of friends.”
KSIF leverages the Sejong Culture Academy program to offer overseas Korean language learners an opportunity to experience various aspects of Korean culture, which isn’t easy to access from abroad, in the effort to promote Korean culture around the globe.
