KSIF on the development of Metaverse KSI Campus as a place for real-time Korean communication

> A metaverse space that learners across the globe can access any time to communicate in the Korean language. Development in progress. To open in October.
> An opportunity for learners to take courses, engage in conversation with each other and experience Korean culture.

KSIF (President Lee Haiyoung), is accelerating the development of the Metaverse KSI Campus where Korean language learners around the world can meet up at any time to communicate in Korean and enjoy a virtual experience of Korean culture.

KSIF has been providing international students with a wide range of educational content including online and offline Korean language courses, a mobile app for students to help themselves, and an AI Korean speaking practice service. However, there were limitations in providing an always-on learning platform to geographically remote learners.

KSIF has been developing Metaverse KSI Campus where students around the globe can meet each other in a virtual space and enjoy real-time Korean conversation, scheduled to launch this October.

On Metaverse KSI Campus, students can always find other learners whenever they access the platform. This is differentiated from the existing offline and online KSI where they are only able to meet with instructors and other students during a scheduled time.

This virtual space consists of the Campus where users can take Korean language classes and experience Korean culture, and the Village offering a virtual experience of life in Korea. The students will be able to take classes with those from other countries, chat with them in Korean, and enjoy cultural content and games on this campus.

The service will be developed using ZEP platform to allow relatively smooth access from places even with poor network infrastructure. The foundation will also develop some close-to-real-life content on Korean culture to be added to the metaverse campus for learners to have a realistic experience.

KSIF’s President Lee Haiyoung said, “We are happy to be able to leverage technological evolution and provide a metaverse platform where our learners can come together and communicate with each other.” She added, “I hope that those learning the Korean language abroad can move a step closer to Korea through Metaverse KSI Campus.”
