The King Sejong Institute Foundation (hereinafter KSIF, President: Lee Hai-young) has released new content for learning the Korean language and culture, targeting foreigners in particular.
The content that KSIF presents is composed of webtoons, motion graphic animation, and entertainment shows, to help foreign learners at beginners’ level to learn idioms, proverbs, onomatopoeia, newly coined words, and buzzwords that Koreans use ─ in an easier and more fun way.
Learners can easily understand idioms and proverbs through the depiction of the characters in the webtoons. They can also learn the meaning of onomatopoeia through auditory effects, such as sounds in motion graphic animations. In addition, it will enable the learners to understand the newly coined words and buzzwords that are difficult to understand through textbooks, using entertaining cartoons.
President Lee Hai-young explains, “The new content released is an attempt to increase the spread of Korean language and culture and to lower the barriers to Korean language learning. We will continue to develop learning contents reflecting diverse learning goals and capabilities of foreign learners.”
Starting from December 20, the KSIF will release a total of 144 contents on Mondays (webtoons), Wednesdays (motion graphic animation), and Fridays (entertainment shows) for 48 weeks. You can find the webtoons on KSIF Instagram (https://instagram.com/king.sejong.institute/), and animations and entertainment shows on the KSIF YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/c/LearnTeachKorean).
