The King Sejong Institute Foundation (President: Kang Hyounhwa) held a ceremony commemorating the completion of education conducted to strengthen the capabilities of newly dispatched teachers at King Sejong Institute on April 2.

In the first half of 2021, twenty-nine additionally selected teachers to be dispatched completed education held from March 22 to April 2 in Korea, and have been dispatched to serve as teachers at 17 King Sejong Institutes in 14 countries. The education held in Korea consisted of ▲required training such as operation and administration of the Institute, ▲theory and practice of Korean language education, and Korean culture teaching methods.

In particular, the education was centered on enhancing the 'online teaching competency' of teachers, including theory on Korean language education, using KSI Online, and giving class demonstrations using the online conferencing platform, Zoom. In addition, through the ‘King Sejong Institute Operator Cultural Education Program’ developed by KSIF last year, Korean culture education has been greatly expanded to include Korean culture theory, teaching methods, and cultural experiences.

At the domestic training completion ceremony held on April 2nd, 6 outstanding teachers who completed the training were selected and awarded the Excellence Award, and certificates of completion were awarded to all the teachers who completed the entire course. Teacher Heo Ji Yi (KSI Nairobi) shared her thoughts as the teachers' representative at the graduation ceremony by saying, “This domestic training has been meaningful in that it has enabled us to enhance our understanding of KSI and expertise in Korean language education.” She closed by saying, “I will actively work as a private diplomat dispatched to local regions to promote the Korean language and culture to the world.”
