The <K-WAVE Korean> videos and learning materials set to unveiled one by one starting this April
The King Sejong Institute Foundation (KSIF) unveiled K-WAVE Korean, consisting of videos teaching the Korean language and culture
using K-dramas, K-pop and other hallyu content.
K-WAVE Korean consists of a total of 52 videos comprised of 27 videos dedicated to K-drama and 25 to K-pop. Learners will learn
Korean based on the lyrics of popular K-pop idol groups, such as Oh My Girl and The Boyz, as well as expressions used by Koreans
in their daily lives.
K-dramas featured in the videos include Guardian: The Lonely and Great God and The Heirs, which became smash hits worldwide.
Learners can practice their Korean by repeating after the lines and also indirectly experience Korean culture shown on the screen.

K-WAVE Korean has also been produced in English, with subtitles provided in Chinese, Vietnamese, Indonesia, and Russian, to better
accommodate foreign learners. Each episode is only 5 minutes long to keep the viewers engaged. KSIF plans to release the
multi-language versions of the videos as well as learning materials and instructions for teachers to promote the use of the videos in
class.
Staff Lee Minji from KSIF who took part in this project said, “The global hallyu craze is spreading to language and culture.
[...] Under these circumstances, we anticipate that K-WAVE Korean will help answer questions for foreigners encountering the Korean
language and culture for the first time and trigger interest, in addition to being used as educational materials.”
K-WAVE Korean is available on the online King Sejong Institute (www.iksi.or.kr), Nuri-Sejong Hakdang (nuri.iksi.or.kr) as well as KSIF’s
YouTube channel.
