Sponsored by MBN’s new entertainment program ‘Borderless New Concept Institute Hoonmanjeongeum,’ King Sejong Institute Foundation will provide scholarships to students of KSIs in Asia and Africa within this year.
‘Hoonmanjeongeum,’ first aired on April 27th, is an entertainment program in which celebrities who are not very good in Korean language learn Korean in a fun way by answering quizzes. Scholarships are sponsored to KSIs around the world in the name of the cast when he or she answers Hangeul quizzes.
The foundation and ‘Hoonmanjeongeum’ production team have selected the institutes to sponsor scholarships considering local demand for Korean language and necessity of sponsorship among the countries where KSIs are established.
In total of six episodes, six recipients have been selected: KSI Nairobi Kenya, KSI Surabaya Indonesia and KSI Center Indonesia, KSI Center Vietnam, KSI Tashkent Uzbekistan, and KSI Islamabad Pakistan. New recipient of the scholarship will be released each week.
The production team of ‘Hoonmanjeongeum’ said, “We were looking for an organization to sponsor a scholarship in the name of our cast and we learned about KSIF promoting Korean language and culture locally and internationally.” “Our MCs of the program, singer Joonhyeong Park and announcer Seongjoo Kim, are delighted to give the scholarships to Korean learners.”
Director of KSIF Hyounhwa Kang said, “I’m grateful to the production team of ‘Hoonmanjeongeum’ and their support for Korean learners of KSIs. I hope that many people at home and abroad will become interested in KSIs through ‘Hoonmanjeongeum’.”
