KSIF has developed supplementary teaching materials for ‘Sejong Korean Culture 1’ and it will distribute them to KSIs around the world.
In order to support Korean culture classes of KSIs, the foundation has developed Korean cultural materials, "Sejong Korean Culture 1 Teaching Aids" as such materials are difficult to obtain from overseas. The supplementary materials consist of six topics including money, seasons, and weekend activities in Korea, and various forms such as picture cards, play boards, and assembling parts.
Specially, KSIF has developed various experiential teaching aids to enable Korean language learners overseas to feel Korean culture vividly. A typical example is ‘AR postcard of Seoul’s attractions’ that has been created with Augmented Reality (AR) technology. When a user sees the photos of Seoul attractions from AR postcard via Sejong Korean culture app camera, videos showing five places of Seoul such as Hangang Park and Bukchon Hanok Village are played. In addition, it includes materials for craft activities so that the learners can make traditional Korean fans and hanok during Korean culture classes.
These supplementary materials are individually packaged under each theme so that it is easy to maintain them after class. They are made with durable materials and can be used for a long period.
Director of KSIF Hyun-wha Kang said, "We’ve developed the teaching materials for ‘Sejong Korean Culture 1’ based on the opinions of the KSIs that it is difficult to obtain related cultural materials locally even if they want to conduct Korean culture classes. I hope it would be a great opportunity to further promote more Korean culture classes around the world. "
KSIF will post visual materials that are included in ‘Sejong Korean Culture 1 Teaching Aids’ on the teachers’ page of Nuri-Sejong Hakdang website (www.sejonghakdang.org).
