Award from National Police of Colombia!

On December 10th, Sam-il Yang, the head of KSI Bogota, was awarded the Order of Educational Merit from the National Police of Colombia. The Educational Merit Medal is the highest award bestowed by the National Police of Colombia to institutions and individuals who have contributed to the development of civil society and the National Police Agency. Mr. Yang has been awarded for his contribution in improving communication between local community and the police in trouble-prone neighborhoods since 2012 via art, Korean language and culture education.

Colombia’s 50-year civil war has fueled distrust between the residents and the police. KSI Bogota, along with Colombian Police, conducted art education for sex workers, model inmates of juvenile detention centers, orphans, and underprivileged youths and its contribution has been recognized for bringing about social development and harmony. At the same time, he also conducted art education, and Korean language and culture education for the police, and made great efforts for specialization and internationalization of Colombian police. "Colombian citizens and the police are communicating through Korean language and culture," said Sam-il Yang, the head of KSI Bogota and added, "We’ll strive to communicate and collaborate closely with local community.”
