KSIF is accepting applications from KSI students to study in Korea.
On October 26th, the foundation shared the application guidelines for ‘KSIF Scholarship for Studying in Korea Program’ for the first half of 2019 to KSIs around the world. The two categories of admission are 'degree course' and 'language training course'. Students who are selected for the degree program can enter a degree course (B.A. and M.A./Ph.D) in a Korean university, and if they participate in the language training course, they can learn Korean language and culture in Korea for a certain period.
Any KSI student with a non-Korean nationality is eligible to apply for the scholarship program. However, for the 'degree program' an applicant must have completed Intermediate 1B (Sejong Korean 1~6 courses) or obtained TOPIK level 3 or higher. For the ‘language training course’, any KSI student who has completed Beginner 1B (Sejong Korean 1~2 courses) or TOPIK level 1 or higher can apply. Selected students will receive full cost of tuition during the period of their study and accommodation at a dormitory will be provided depending on the universities.
There are a total of 7 universities that candidates can apply. Four universities that sponsor a degree program are Gangnam University, Daegu Catholic University, Chosun University, and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. Three other universities that sponsor a language course are Dongshin University, Sangmyung University, and Sungkyunkwan University.
KSIF will first announce the application guidelines of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Daegu Catholic University and Sangmyung University, and accept applications by November 16th (Fri). After document reviews and interviews, selected students will be announced in December. The application guidelines for the other universities including Gangnam University, Chosun University, Dongshin University, and Sungkyunkwan University will be notified to all KSIs in mid-November. Students selected for the scholarship program will be admitted to the universities that they had applied, starting from the second semester of 2019.
Since 2016, KSIF has been operating the scholarship program to provide scholarships to outstanding KSI students to study in a Korean university. To encourage them to study in Korea, the foundation plans to expand its scope of support and participation of universities.
