Indonesia is a country in which 300 tribes come together to form a unique culture. That may be the reason why the gifts that students of Jakarta 1 KSI, Indonesia presented on Teacher’s Day were quite special. Students of Beginner’s 1B-2 class prepared a Song Joong-ki bouquet for Mr. Park Myung-ki who loves the drama, 「Descendants of the Sun」, and Beginner’s 1B-1 class gave Mr. Ko Jung-dae a sash that reads, “The Best Teacher” along with a certificate of thanksgiving. As you can see, students showed their gratitude towards the Korean teachers with their unique gifts.

“Korea has “Parent’s Day,” while China has “Mother’s Day.” Xian KSI, China held a carnation making event on the 11^th to commemorate Mother’s Day, which was on May 13^thh. Students of the institute who participated in the event utilized colored paper to create carnations and hanboks while some of them even wrote cards of thanksgiving for their mothers. Shanmin, a student of Xian KSI said, “I was happy to make a carnation and a card on my own to give to my mom for the upcoming Mother’s Day.”

Shenyang KSI, China began conducting Korean classes at the Shenyang branch of KDB Korean Development Bank for nine weeks starting on May 8^th. Out of the 14 employees learning Korean, seven of them are in Beginner’s 1A class (Sejong Korean 1) while six intermediate students are in the Business Korean course. Each employee of KDB had his/her own reason to learn Korean. Zhang Longyan, an accountant, is learning Korean to report to his Korean supervisor in the language whereas Bai Yueyan, in charge of loan work, applied for the Korean class to watch Korean TV shows such as “Infinity Challenge” without Chinese subtitles. Based on the request of KDB for “its local employees to improve their Korean communication skills in everyday work situations,” Shenyang KSI plans to promote its Business Korean course with an emphasis.
