Introduction of Our KSI!

The month of March means starting fresh!
Let’s take a look at what kind of events are happening at KSI locations around the globe!

♦ La Rochelle KSI partakes in student enrollment orientation event
On the 3rd of last February, The University of La Rochelle in France held a student enrollment orientation with La Rochelle KSI students joining in the event to promote the institute. They actively worked together to provide such activities as transcribing French names in Korean and writing it in calligraphy, holding Korean traditional dance and instrument performances and traditional tea culture etiquette sessions, earning a great response for those in attendance. It is hoped that this special event will serve as an effective means to promote the La Rochelle KSI.

♦ Waterloo KSI holds Lunar New Year’s gathering
The Waterloo KSI, located in the Canada, opened a special Lunar New Year’s Event in midst of Korea’s biggest traditional holiday, Seollal. Everyone came adorned in beautiful Hanboks and had a wonderful time posing and taking pictures of one another while enjoying traditional Korean food, including songpyeon (half-moon rice cakes), ingeolmi (rice cakes coated with powdered soybeans), hodugwaja (walnut balls) and much more. Students especially loved trying out the hodugwaja after being only able to see it on television! Check out the photo below!

♦ Cainta KSI holds Korean traditional culture event for Lunar New Year’s
Philippines’ Cainta KSI also held Lunar New Year’s festivities getting a taste of different Korean traditional games. Everyone came wearing their Hanbok, first paying respect with a formal bow to the director and Korean teachers before moving onto traditional games, including jegichagi ( kicking a ‘jegi’ into the air), dakssaum (trying to knock an opponent back with one leg held up), tuho (throwing arrows into canister from a distance) and yunnori (a traditional board game). Beginner level student, Jean Pauline Medina, expressed her excitement saying, “This was really an eye-opening event for me and let me get a feel for the kind of culture and traditional beliefs that Korea holds.”
