On March 3, 2017, Pasay KSI opened a special class for students of Basic Sejong Korean classes. The students who attended the special class made their own butterfly fans by writing Korean words and drawing pictures on hanji with a calligraphy brush pen. Students spread their butterfly fans and expressed their satisfaction saying that the fan will come in handy in the hot weather of the Philippines. Palma Evelyn made a butterfly fan as a special gift for her Korean boyfriend by writing the phrase ‘I need you in my life’ in Korean, which is what her boyfriend often tells her.

Chiang Mai KSI Runs the ‘Korean Traditional Patterned Ring Making Class’
Chiang Mai KSI in Thailand operated a ‘Korean Traditional Patterned Ring Making Class’ for students studying Basic Sejong Korean. The students were earnestly focused on making Korean traditional rings by drawing along the beautiful contours of a Korean traditional pattern of Taegeukgi, Hahoe mask and fan and adding a bokjumeoni (lucky pocket) on the Korean traditional pattern. They had a great time writing their resolutions for the new semester on the back of the rings. They also listened to the meanings and histories of each of the patterns while making their Korean traditional patterned rings. They said they could naturally experience Korean culture by making the rings and hope the Chiang Mai KSI would operate more Korean cultural classes in various areas.
