KSI Bishkek produced 15 preliminary Korean language teachers through the 2021 Local Korean Language Teacher Training Program. Managed by Korea University and run by KSI Bishkek, the Local Korean Teacher Training Program started in October and ended in January. The 15 students successfully completed 120-hour lectures and 20-hour Korean language teaching practice that included lecture participation and mock teaching.
Especially, the mock teaching for Korean language teacher capacity-building was well received by the participants. As the demand for the Local Korean Language Teacher Training Program is increasing, we are providing the program to produce more teachers. The program offered in 2021 was certified by the National Institute of the Korean Language, which allows those who have completed the program to start their careers as KSI Korean language teachers.
As the program was quite rigorous, the certificate awards ceremony was full of joyous and exciting moments for the 15 graduates. Idiana, one of them, thanked the KSIF and Korea University, saying that the program taught her to gain basic knowledge in the Korean language and the capacity to teach the language. It was systematic and practical, which was helpful. She hoped that all the 15 students who completed the program would become competent Korean language teachers.
Son Dong-won, director of KSI Bishkek, led a big round of applause for the graduates and said that KSI Bishkek would continue working hard to produce local Korean teachers through the teacher training program.
