The King Sejong Institute Foundation (hereinafter KSIF, President: Lee Hai-young) held a completion ceremony for “Training of Korean language teachers dispatched abroad in the first half of 2022” at Seoul On Studio, Dongdaemun Digital Plaza (DDP) on January 14.
The 57 Korean teachers who were finally selected through the recruitment screening process at the end of December last year will receive practical training necessary for KSI teacher activities, such as:
• Korean language education theory and practice
• Korean culture teaching methods
• Understanding local culture
• Academic administration, and
• Fundamentals.
The training was prepared, in particular, to strengthen teachers" competencies in teaching Korean culture, such as “Measures for operating classes for Korean calligraphy for foreigners,” and “Measures to teach Korean culture using Hallyu contents.” The psychological tests and counseling for individuals were conducted for the first time to improve teachers" self-understanding and self-reflection abilities, and they received a great response from the training participants.
Teacher CHUN Seo-young at KSI in Danang, Vietnam, who participated in this training, said, “Through the training, I was able to learn and practice the theory of Korean culture education, which was difficult to find. I hope to become a teacher who can disseminate Korean language and culture to the world.”
President Lee Hai-young of KSIF said, “Thanks to the passion and hard work of Korean language teachers dispatched abroad, KSIF, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, enabling us to grow into what we are today. I hope that they will continue to take the lead in disseminating Korean language and culture through safe and responsible activities.”
The 57 teachers who have completed the training will be dispatched to 57 overseas KSIs from February to begin their activities in earnest.
