KSIF Calls for 2022 New Applicants for KSI Operation

  1. Rigorous screening in each stage to select up to 35 candidates with the goal of operating 270 KSIs around the world by 2022

The King Sejong Institute Foundation (hereinafter KSIF, President: Lee Hai-young) started accepting applications for the selection of new King Sejong Institutes in 2022 from the 30th (Tuesday).

On Nov. 30, the KSIF posted a notice on its website (www.ksif.or.kr) for the recruitment of new applicants for KSI operations, starting 2022. It will accept the applications online (apply.ksif.or.kr) until January 31, 2022 to select up to 35 new KSI operators who successfully pass the requirements of document screening, field inspection, and final screening by the deliberation committee in around June.

Considering that there will be many inquiries about how to complete the applications and what documents to prepare, the KSIF plans to hold a face-to-face briefing session in Seoul, Busan, and Gwangju, South Korea, in December. Detailed information on application processes and requirements will be available in the “Announcement for the designation of new KSI for 2022” on the website bulletin board.

The KSIF president Lee Hai-young assured applicants that the KSIF would do its best to give preference to the applicants in the regions that have a high demand for KSIs, as over 11,000 people are waiting to learn Korean at KSIs around the world. She added that the KSIF would introduce a new scholarship system for KSI operators in 2022 and increase financial support dramatically, which would encourage institutions including colleges that have been hesitant to apply for KSI operation due to lack of budget.

KSI is a leading Korean language and culture education brand supported by the Korean government. Currently, 234 KSIs are operating in 82 nations around the world. In accordance with the Korean Language Promotion Plan (2020~2022) announced by Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the KSIF plans to increase the number of KSIs, especially in the regions with high demand for Korean language education.
