The King Sejong Institute Foundation (President: Kang Hyounhwa, hereinafter KSIF) provides education to improve the teaching competency of localized KSI teachers from July 19 to August 6.
The trainees will be the selected 40 Localized KSI teachers, chosen for the first time this year, to be dispatched to 28 King Sejong Institutes in 22 countries. They will work in KSI in each country, mid- to long-term, to accumulate expertise in Korean education and broaden local knowledge.
The education this time consists of programs such as: ▲ Korean language education theory and practice ▲ Teaching methods for Korean culture ▲Understanding local culture ▲ Academic and administrative training, based on the customized education curriculum for localized KSI teachers. It is focused on improving the teachers’ local expertise, such as understanding the local culture and training for adaptability after being dispatched. To this end, education for prevention of international crime and terrorism will be provided, along with education for understanding local society and culture, by the experts of each region. In addition, education for strengthening capacity to respond to infectious diseases with international cooperation will be provided, in collaboration with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). Through this approach, it is expected that the localized KSI teachers will be able to better understand the threat of foreign infectious diseases and strengthen their abilities to respond to such crises.
President Kang Hyounhwa explained, “The role of localized KSI teachers to understand the cultural characteristics of the country and educationally adopt them is difficult, but very important. KSIF will therefore continue to support the training and dispatch of local experts.”
