2021 World Korean Educators Online Conference

  1. Held online from August 9 to 12
  2. A place for harmony and exchange among Korean teachers around the world, in connection with ‘K-Educators" Union

The King Sejong Institute Foundation (President: Kang Hyounhwa, hereinafter KSIF) is holding the “2021 World Korean Educators Conference” at JW Marriott Hotel, Seoul, over a period of four days from August 9 to 12. This conference, hosted by the Ministry of Culture(Minister Hwang Hui), Sports and Tourism and organized by KSIF, is expected to serve as a venue for exchanges among Korean language teachers around the world ─ to share information and strengthen their educational expertise.

The conference, which marks its 13th anniversary this year, will be attended by 450 Korean educators from more than 80 countries, and will be held online. Initially, the event was planned to be held in both face-to-face and online, dividing the participants into educators in Korea and abroad. However, as the level 4 social distancing was implemented due to the spread of COVID-19 in the metropolitan area, the event was switched to all online.

On the first day, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Vice Prime Minister and Minister Yoo Eun-hae) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minister Chung Eui-yong) will jointly hold a "K-Educator Union". A talk concert is also being prepared among the teachers working in various countries, and organizations, together with a presentation of Korean education cases in the COVID-19 era. The participants are especially looking forward to the special lecture under the theme of “Korean Culture in the COVID-19 Era: How BTS Touched the World,” by music critic Kim Yeong-dae.

On the second day, educational training that can be used in Korean language and culture classes under the themes of "knot crafting" and "K-beauty" will be provided. On the third day, a Korean language education plan in a non-face-to-face education environment will be presented through training on “using the AI Korean education contents at King Sejong Institute,” and “using King Sejong Institute’s micro-learning contents.” On the last day, teachers who were selected for the “Korean Education Example Contest” will present their cases and receive awards.
