> Cultural performances such as samulnori and fan dance, along with a variety of engaging programs
KSI Surabaya in Indonesia celebrated its 10th anniversary on August 22 with a commemorative event held at Building Q of Petra Christian University. The event served as a meaningful occasion to honor the institute’s history and accomplishments while sharing its vision for the future.
Supported by KSIF, KSI Surabaya has established itself as a center for promoting the Korean language and culture since its opening in 2015. Starting with only a small group of learners, the institute has since produced more than 5,000 graduates, growing into the leading hub for Korean language education and cultural exchange in East Java, Indonesia. In 2024, KSI Surabaya was selected as one of the “Outstanding KSIs of the Year” by KSIF, recognizing its excellence in educational quality, and also received the Meritorious Service Award for strengthening its network cooperation with other KSIs in the region. This year, the institute continues to prepare for further growth through collaborations with Korean and Indonesian companies, operator workshops, and facility improvements.

The 10th anniversary event featured a variety of vibrant cultural performances that captivated the audience, including samulnori (traditional Korean percussion music) and the graceful Korean fan dance. During the following Korean buffet dinner, guests enjoyed an authentic taste of Korea. The event also included various programs such as a raffle draw for learners and alumni, social media event awards, and an instant photo booth, all of which received enthusiastic participation and praise.

Going forward, KSI Surabaya will continue to grow as a center of learning and opportunity.” Director Herwindy also expressed her hopes, saying, “Through these continued efforts, I wish for more Indonesians to learn and understand the Korean language and culture, contributing to an even stronger relationship between our two countries.”

The 10th anniversary celebration was not merely a festive occasion—it was a meaningful moment to express gratitude to everyone who has been part of KSI Surabaya’s journey and to reaffirm a shared commitment to preparing for the next decade. Building on this milestone, KSI Surabaya plans to host a workshop to share experiences and best practices with other KSIs in Indonesia, working together to enhance the quality of Korean language education. Looking ahead, KSI Surabaya aims to further strengthen its role as a solid bridge connecting Indonesia and Korea.
