Google Launches Korean Language Support for Its “AI Mode”
Starting September 9, Google began officially supporting Korean for its “AI Mode,” an AI-powered search feature. This update follows the initial release of AI Mode in May and now includes additional language support such as Hindi, Japanese, and Portuguese. AI Mode provides users with summarized answers compiled by AI from multiple sources, including relevant websites, in response to their search queries. Korean users can now access this feature directly through Google without any separate registration—simply by conducting a search and selecting the “AI Mode” tab.

University of Montreal to Offer a New Korean Language Course in Its 2025 Fall Cultural Program
The University of Montreal has announced the launch of new short-term cultural workshop courses—such as Korean language and K-pop dance—through its Student Life Services (Services à la vie étudiante) for the Fall 2025 semester. The new Korean language course (Coréen I) is an introductory class designed to help learners become familiar with Korean words and sounds. The course is open not only to current students but also to faculty, staff, alumni, and the general public. Conducted in small groups, the class focuses on vocabulary, pronunciation, and conversational practice. 2025 Ambassador’s Cup Korean Speech Contest for Vietnamese Learners — Northern and Southern Regional Finals Held
The 2025 Ambassador’s Cup Korean Speech Contest for Vietnamese Learners held its Southern Regional Final in Ho Chi Minh City on August 2 and its Northern Regional Final in Hanoi on August 23. A total of 77 educational institutions from across Vietnam—including universities, KSIs, and middle and high schools—participated in this year’s competition. Contestants delivered speeches on topics such as “The Charm of Vietnamese Culture” and “The Most Impressive Thing to Me.” After a series of highly competitive presentations, six contestants from the university major division, six from the non-major division, and four from the middle and high school division advanced to the final round. In total, 16 finalists will compete in the grand final to be held in Ho Chi Minh City on October 11.

Anna University College of Engineering Makes Foreign Language Courses, Including Korean, Mandatory for All Engineering Students
On August 5, Anna University announced that all Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and Bachelor of Technology (BTech) students will be required to complete a foreign language course as part of their undergraduate curriculum. Beginning with the second semester of the 2025 academic year, all new students must choose and complete one language from Korean, German, Japanese, or Dutch. Previously, some autonomous colleges under Anna University offered foreign language courses on a voluntary basis. However, with the university’s revised academic policy, the requirement has now been expanded to all approximately 300 affiliated colleges across Tamil Nadu under Anna University’s jurisdiction.

University of Warsaw’s School of Eastern Languages Offers Korean Language Course for Youth
The School of Eastern Languages (Szkoła Języków Wschodnich) under the Faculty of Oriental Studies at the University of Warsaw has opened new semester-based language courses for young learners. The newly offered languages include Korean, Japanese, Arabic, Russian, and Chinese, reflecting the continued rise of interest in East Asian languages. The courses are designed for both beginners with no prior exposure to Korean and students who have already started learning the language. They will be offered at beginner and elementary levels, with a curriculum focused on foundational Korean skills. Classes are scheduled to begin on September 26, 2025, and will run until January 17, 2026, for a total of 15 sessions (90 minutes each).
